WTP for Hand Pump related products and services

The assessment was commissioned by Hope for Children and Women Foundation with support from NIRAS International Consulting. The purpose of the study to;

  • Assess the households’ willingness and ability to pay for improved hand pump associated products and services using the Contingent Valuation Methodology
  • To map current suppliers of hand pumps associated products and services and identify gaps within the supply chain
  • Propose key strategies for stimulating demand and improving supply chain for hand pump products and services

The assessment adopted a mixed Methods approach utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection. Quantitative data was collected through Household Survey using a “Contingent Valuation Method” (CVM) to estimate households’ willingness to pay for hand pump related products and services. Qualitative data was collected through Key Informant interviews and Focus Group Discussions.
