The assessment was aimed at assessing the traditional leadership of the Toposa people, its strengths, weaknesses and structures at present day. The specific objectives of the assessment were;
Examine the leadership, cultural structures and decision-making patterns of the Toposa Community visa-vi local government institutions
Analyze the water sources, decision making structures and sustainable strategies available among the Toposa
Study the Toposa community grazing patterns and analyze the various contributing factors.
The assessment employed a purely qualitative research design in which focus group discussions were held with various categories of people including elders, men, women and youth. Key informant interviews were as well conducted with Chiefs, County Wash department and County executive directors in the Counties of Kapoeta East, Kapoeta North and Kapoeta South in Eastern Equatoria State.
